Man Killed on I-70 Tuesday Identified

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Police have identified the man struck and killed Tuesday night on I-70 at Salisbury.

Officials say 55 year old William Van Riggs the Third was a homeless man.

The driver who struck him told police he didn’t clearly see Van Riggs.

That driver lost control of his vehicle after striking the man and crashed down an embankment.

The police report indicated that Van Riggs ran into the driver’s lane of traffic.

Van Riggs was pronounced dead on the scene. His next of kin have been notified.
