Midwest Households to be Hit by 13% Increase in Natural Gas Prices
ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - Residents in the Midwest can expect to pay 13 percent more for natural gas this winter.
That is according to the Energy Information Administration which released its winter fuels outlook. For Illinois residents that’s a big hit.
Citizens Utility Board Spokesman Patrick Dignan says when it comes to household expenses in Illinois the cost of energy already tops the budget.
“An Illinois household in general spends…about half the money goes to heating and cooling their homes.” said Dignan.
The windy wity, Chicago, is one big reason for such a large number.
Dignan says the good news is although you can not do much about prices, you can lower usage and companies like Ameren offer $49.00 home energy audits.
