ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - Boeing warns: some St. Louis employees may be in line for furloughs, thanks to the gridlock in Washington.

The government shutdown most directly affects Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security division based in St. Louis. In an email Boeing decline to say how many of the15,000 St. Louis based employees may be idled.

The company tells KMOX News it is monitoring the situation at each site and each program, and the state of the workforce is a “work in progress.”

Some Boeing employees can’t get into their federal government worksites or others need federal inspectors to approve their work.

The company also said the furloughs could be ordered “as a result of customers issuing stop work orders.”
