Election Returns

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – “The county’s business is everybody’s business,” that was the theme as St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCulloch introduced councilman Steve Stenger.

Stenger officially announced his candidacy for the County Executive seat Tuesday before a crowd of about hundred union leaders, firefighters, police officials, and democratic county councilmen Mike O’Mara and Pat Dolan.

Stenger said the county is broken. He blames County Executive Charlie Dooley for a string of recent scandals, including two that have targeted the St. Louis County government.

If elected Stenger said he would call for a countywide forensic audit to route out waste or mismanagement of taxpayer money.

Dooley was unavailable Tuesday afternoon, but a spokesperson said people who criticize Dooley don’t remember his accomplishments and are just dwelling on the recent scandals.

Dooley was at a funeral today but he is expected to be at the regular county council meeting tonight.
