Belleville Martial Arts Instructor Admits to Sexual Abuse

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) – A southwestern Illinois martial arts instructor faces federal sentencing next spring now that he’s admitted sexually abusing several students, including a 6-year-old.

Twenty-year-old Christopher Horton of Highland entered the pleas in an East St. Louis federal courtroom to five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a minor.

Federal prosecutors say that between May of last year and February of this year in Madison and St. Clair counties, Horton video-recorded himself in sexual activity with three children.

Authorities say they found nearly five dozen video files containing child pornography on his cell phone.

Horton taught at Three Tigers Martial Arts in Belleville.

Horton’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 7.
