ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – A new crowdfunding website launched last week raises money for area art and culture groups.

It’s called power2give.org. It’s a partnership between the Arts and Education Council of Greater St. Louis (A&E)and the Arts & Science Council (ASC) of Charlotte, N.C.

The website allows cultural organizations to promote projects and layout specific needs.

Cynthia A. Prost, A&E president told KMOX, “someone can give a gift to a project that they love and it can be a gift of a dollar, it can be a gift of ten dollars, no gift is to small.”

Prost believes that this new way of supporting the arts will encourage more people to give to projects like Circus Harmony, Stray Dog Theater, or the dozens more already listing donation requests on the site.

Gift cards can also be purchased.

“Using the platform to share stories of impact is critical to the success of the posted projects,” Laura Belcher, national director for power2give.org said. “Donors want to know where their gifts are going and how they make a difference.”

Belcher noted that other benefits of power2give.org are that it leverages the wealth of social media outlets available today and creates closer relationships between donors and the organizations they support.

Power2give.org has expanded from its home base in Charlotte to 18 other metropolitan areas, with

St. Louis becoming the 21st city to join the fold. The fundraising platform has raised more than $3.1 million in aggregate funds across 1,400 projects.
