Off-Duty Officer Shot, Suspect Still at Large

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – A 22-year-old man who shot an off-duty St. Louis police officer Wednesday night remains at large.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said the officer was shot in the leg by a man he was trying to escort out of his sister’s house in the 5900 block of Lalite in north St. Louis.

He was transported to an area hospital and is expected to be OK.

Witnesses told officers at the scene the suspect ran to a nearby house. SWAT officers were activated and several neighbors were evacuated from their homes while police searched for the suspect, but he was not found.

Dotson said the suspect is a convicted felon and is from the neighborhood.
