St. Louis (KMOX) Another outstanding “Scouting For Food” event is in the books…

Greater Saint Louis Area Council of Boy Scouts CEO Ron Green says thousands took part in the region’s largest single-day food drive, Saturday, and even more made donations, “Everybody gives. Even some who need are giving. That’s the American spirit. To me, Scouting is the backbone of America and what makes this country great.”

More than 2,147,000 items were collected locally–the most since 2008.

Much of the food was taken to the St. Louis Area Food Bank for distribution to its partner agencies.

Green says “Scouting For Food” teaches youth the value of community service and caring for others, “One of the Scouts said to me the greatest part of the event is helping people. I commended him for working hard, and he said it makes you feel good to do it, because it’s worthwhile.”

You can still drop off donations at any Regions Bank location from November 18th thru the 22nd.
