MCLEANSBORO, Ill. (KMOX) – A traffic accident in Hamilton County, Illinois, southeast of St. Louis, has taken five lives including four people from Collinsville.
Troopers say all five were in a Chevrolet Trailblazer that went out of control Saturday night on a McLeansboro road and overturned several times.
Illinois State Police say Robert Parker, 49, Lori Parker, 42, Tammy DeLong, 35, and a 16 year-old, all from Collinsville were killed.
A fifth person 23-year-old Diana Wright of McLeansboro, Illinois was also killed in the crash.
The driver 49-year-old Darrell Delong of Collinsville, was the lone survivor of the wreck. He was the only one in the SUV who was wearing a seatbelt, according to authorities. He was taken to a hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Illinois State Police say they’re still investigating what caused the crash.
McLeansboro is about 100 miles southeast of St. Louis.
