EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOX) - An East St. Louis man now faces federal charges in last week’s robbery and shooting at the Ferguson Television and Satellite shop in Caseyville.

The Federal Indictment charges 28-year-old Phillip T. Smith with robbing the store, discharging the firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

The robbery’s considered a federal crime because the shop conducts interstate business.

Smith allegedly shot store owner Judy Ferguson several times. She did survive.

If convicted Smith faces up to 20 years in prison.
