Audit Reveals St. Clair County is in Good Standings

COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) – The Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) has completed its audit of St. Clair County, and “basically it’s a fairly clean audit,” according to IMRF spokeswoman Linda Horrell.

The 6-month-long audit, commissioned by the county, looked into whether too many part-time St. Clair County employees were receiving retirement benefits.

Horrell says the audit revealed issues with about a dozen employees, which she says is pretty typical for a county that size.

“Should you enroll someone in IMRF, should you not. Do they work enough hours, do they not work enough hours. These are challenges all of our employers face,” she explained.

County Human Resources Director Frank Bergman is scheduled to meet with IMRF officials Wednesday to begin addressing and correcting the issues.
