ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson has a warning for football fans this weekend: “Don’t bring your gun downtown.”

Thousands of football fans are expected to converge on St. Louis for the Show-Me Bowl State Championships at the Edward Jones Dome.

Dotson told KMOX his department will have extra officers keeping an eye on parked vehicles. “You can’t take [your gun] into the Rams game, you can’t take it into the stadium. Don’t leave that gun in your can so it falls in the hands of criminals.”

Sam Dotson also reminds attendees to ‘park smart’ and to never “leave valuables in plain sight.”

As with all major events in the city, Dotson said the police department will have additional officers keeping an eye on parked vehicles, including some on foot and on bicycles.
