St. Louis (KMOX)- City of St. Louis firefighters responded to a call of a house fire just after noon, Saturday.

When they arrived in the 5700 block of Theodore, in the Walnut Park neighborhood, they found a two-story brick home with heavy smoke and fire.

The house was occuppied by two adults and six children at the time. Captain Dan Sutter of the St Louis Fire Department tells KMOX one child was rescued from the 2nd floor and transported to an area hospital.

The two adults were also hospitalized. All three are reportedly in stable condition.

The house did not have a working smoke alarm. The St. Louis Fire Department reminds city residents who are in need of a smoke alarm–the can contact the St. Louis Fire Department from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 314-533-3406.
