Election Returns

ST. PETERS, Mo. (KMOX) - Holiday decorations will go up Monday at the Governor’s Mansion in Jefferson City, and this year, there’s a local connection.

The mansion will have two Christmas trees, one inside and one out.

The outside tree was donated by Jose and Floetta Carrera of St. Peters.

Jose Carrera tells KMOX they answered a newspaper ad seeking a tree donation, “Pretty soon they called us and said our tree was selected. I think it was picked because it was so easy-access, right in the front yard.”

Carrera says there are a few reasons why he’s glad their tree was picked, “It got too big for our yard. We knew we’d have to get it cut down, eventually. This saved me a lot of money!”

A tree lighting ceremony is planned for Friday, and the Carreras plan to be there.
