Jewelry Store Owner Shoots At, Chase Away Would-Be Robbers

ELLISVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – A citizen is being credited with helping capture two men who allegedly robbed an Ellisville jewelry store, then lead police on a chase on Interstate-64.

The robbery occurred at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, at the Clarkson Jewelers at the Clarkson-Clayton Center.

Authorities say two men from Detroit entered the store and implied they had a gun, but before receiving any cash the store owner pulled out his gun and chased them out of the store.  The owner fired several rounds but missed the thieves.

Officers then chased the would-be robbers down I-64 until they cashed into a median  near the Chesterfield Mall.

The suspects ran, but were caught reportedly by an officer and a citizen.

A stolen watch was recovered, but police say no weapons were found in the car.
