ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The unemployment rate in the St. Louis metropolitan area stood at 6.5 percent in October, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics figures released Thursday.
The new figures, which are not seasonally adjusted, show 11,414 people in the city are unemployed, a rate of 8.2 percent.
In St. Louis County, 30,195 people are out of work, an unemployment rate of 5.9 percent.
On the Illinois side, 8.8 percent of people are jobless in St. Clair County, the highest rate in the region. In Madison County, 7.6 percent of prospective workers were unemployed in October.
Overall, the Missouri unemployment rate was 5.7 percent, the Illinois statewide rate was 8.3 percent, and the national unadjusted rate was 7.0 percent.
