ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - Slowly but surely, flu numbers across the St. Louis area are beginning to pick up.

Statewide, there are now 355 confirmed influenza cases, including 86 new ones last week. That is 38 percent higher than the five year average at this time of year.

In St. Louis County, flu numbers are also starting to pick up a bit. Two weeks ago there were 30 total cases, then it went up to 54 last week and now 83 total as of this week.

More than half of the local cases are in people between the ages of 15 and 49.
