Icy Road Blamed for MetroLink Train/Car Collision in Pagedale

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Icy conditions caused a car to slide into a MetroLink train Friday morning in north St. Louis County.

MetroLink spokeswoman Patti Beck said it happened around 7:43 a.m. at North Market, just west of the Rock Road MetroLink Station in Pagedale.

“The motorist hit the brakes, his vehicle slid on the ice through the intersection,” Beck explained. That car then collided with the already moving train.

Beck estimated about 60 people were aboard when the car hit the train. Eleven passengers have requested medical treatment for minor injures, she said.

The driver of the car was not injured.

St. Louis County and Pagedale police assisted metro crews at the scene.

Metro passengers were shuttled by bus between UMSL South and the Rock Road Stations. Riders were delayed about thirty minutes.
