Mother and Son Drug Dealers Sentenced in Heroin Deaths

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) – A mother and son from Fairview Heights, a drug-dealing duo that a southern Illinois prosecutor called “extremely dangerous,” are headed to federal prison.

Authorities say two women overdosed on heroin and died last year due to acts committed by Deborah Perkins and Douglas Oliver.

Perkins, 66, will spend the next 27 years in prison.

Her son Oliver, 47, was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison.

Prosecutor Stephen Wigginton says he hopes other drug dealers will look at the sentences and decide not to take the same risks Perkins and Oliver did.
