Stenger: Verbal Sparring at Council Meeting Clouded Real Issue

CLAYTON, Mo. (KMOX) – One of the democratic contenders for County Executive Charlie Dooley’s job said the public quarrel between Dooley and Republican Greg Quinn Tuesday night drowned out the important issue at hand.

The flap came as the council voted to not approve Dooley’s recent police board nominee, Bob Baer.

Councilman Quinn, R-Ballwin, said it’s because Baer is a close friend of John Temporiti, who is Dooley’s campaign treasurer.

Steve Stenger, on the Mark Reardon Show, said Dooley should place what he calls a “consensus candidate” on the police board, someone beyond the influence of the county executive.
