3 Charged After St. Clair County Police Chase, Shooting

BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - Three men are charged in connection with a southwestern Illinois chase during which they allegedly shot at police.
The Belleville News-Democrat reports that St. Clair County prosecutors charged 24-year-old Derrick Garner of Cahokia and 23-year-old nephew Anthony Garner of Fairview Heights six days after the chase.
Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Wood of Cahokia also is accused of disorderly conduct for allegedly falsely reporting his vehicle was stolen. Authorities say he had left his unoccupied car running.
Deputies later chased the car and say they were fired upon as the Garners fled into a field. Deputies weren’t injured.
Derrick Garner is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and ammunition by a felon, and obstructing justice. Anthony Garner is charged with obstructing justice.
Online court records don’t show whether they have attorneys.
