FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – The man in charge of a major remodeling project for the Franklin County Health Department said he is not concerned the project ran $69,000 over budget.
Second District Commissioner Mike Schatz said the half million dollar project, which began before he took office, ran into unexpected costs when they realized the building needed $67,000 worth of new heating and air conditioning units.
“We did make some smaller cuts, but we managed to get in just about everything we wanted, plus we managed to upgrade that [heat pump air conditioner] system,” Schartz told KMOX.
In August, it appeared that the project might cost the city an additional $100,000.
Schotz says the county will pay for the cost overruns out of a building fund set aside. The Franklin County Health Department will opened its new headquarters on East Main this week.
