ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) - A suburban St. Louis woman will spend two days in jail for accidentally dragging her pit bull down Interstate 70.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 34-year-old Amy Taylor of Bridgeton was sentenced to the shock time in jail on Friday and ordered to pay veterinary bills for the 2-year-old dog, Coco.
She pleaded guilty Monday to one count of misdemeanor animal abuse.
The dog was dragged for about a mile on May 22 in St. Charles County.
Authorities say Taylor put the dog in an unsecured kennel in the back of her pickup and failed to remove his leash. Somehow the dog got out of the kennel but the leash hung up on the tailgate.
Coco was badly hurt but survived.
