ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – An election may have cleared the way for Metro’s largest employees union to reach a long-awaited contract agreement with the transit agency.
Members of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 788 Thursday re-elected Mike Breihan to another three year term. Breihan told KMOX his win leaves him optimistic that the 1,400 metro workers represented by the union will soon have a contract.
“We’re still doing some arguing over pensions, but both sides have talked prior to the election so we should be able to resolve this thing in January,” he said.
In June, union members authorized a strike, but the action was determined to be illegal.
