“Anchorman” Sinks Under “Hobbit”
After a blitz of publicity that began many months before it’s opening date, “Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” could only manage a second place finish it’s opening weekend scoring $26.8 million. It was expected to do twice that amount.

“The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” finished number one this weekend with $31.5 million. That gives it $127.5 million for two weeks in release.

Disney’s very popular storybook animated feature “Frozen” came in third with $19.2 million. It has a strong total of $191.6 million in five weeks.

“American Hustle” came through with $19.1 million, very close to “Frozen” totals. “Saving Mr. Banks” came in fifth with $9.3 million. For more information on the box office results from last weekend, click on the link below.
One of the more anticipated films opening later this week is the remake of “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” starring Ben Stiller.
