Flight Returns to Lambert Airport After Bird Strike

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – A Southwest airliner taking off from Lambert Airport Monday struck a bird and made an emergency landing back at the airport.

Flight 1091 was headed to Kansas City with 102 passengers.

The bird was sucked into the right engine. Passengers felt the impact and smelled smoke.

No one was injured and all passengers were taken on a different plane to Kansas City around 7 p.m. Monday.

The flight arrived in Kansas City around 8:20 p.m. without further problems.
