Tigers, Illini Both in AP Basketball Top 25

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The first Associated Press men’s college basketball poll of 2014, released on Monday, had Missouri rising in the rankings and Illinois cracking the Top 25.

The 12-1 Tigers of the SEC rose from 25th to 21st.

The 13-2 Fighting Illini of the Big Ten are 23rd (26th last week).

The St. Louis University Billikens of the Atlantic 10 received enough votes this week to place 33rd.

The AP’s top five are: Arizona, Syracuse, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State. Wichita State from the Missouri Valley Conference is 6th.

The coaches poll this week has Missouri at 21, Illinois at 32, and SLU at 29.
