Amtrak Train, Tractor Trailer Collide In Kirkwood

KIRKWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) – An Amtrak train and a semi tractor trailer collided in Kirkwood.

Kirkwood Police tell KMOX there were two minor injuries to passengers on the train. For awhile, drivers were told to avoid Leffingwell and Scott Avenue.

According to an Amtrak spokesperson, Train 313, which is Amtrak’s afternoon Missouri River Runner train, left the Gateway Station in downtown St. Louis at 4:08 p.m. on Tuesday; the crash happened shortly after that. The train was scheduled to arrive at the Kirkwood Station at 4:30 p.m.

KMOX’s Kevin Killeen was told the semi, which had no load, was too light and became stuck in three inches of snow on the tracks.
