ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Snow flurries are falling across the St. Louis-area this morning, snarling morning-rush hour traffic.
Most school are closed today, but drivers are still faced with a slow, slick commute to work. Check out our traffic map.
David Wrone, spokesman for the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic said most of the main roads have been treated.
“We treated them, we’ve plowed them, but you’re going to be seeing snow some places,” he said. “The system is certainly passable.”
It is a slightly different story for the city.
City Streets Director Todd Waelterman said the snow came in kind of late and his crews are playing catch-up.
“Late for us because we didn’t have enough time to get all the route salted properly ahead of the morning rush, so its going to be a slipper go, slow go this morning,” he said.
Waelterman said road crews had to wait for the snow to start falling before they began spreading salt.
Most of the main roads in the city have been treated, according to Waeltermann, now plows are working on the secondary streets.
His advice for drivers, “don’t be cocky and go slow.”
