GLEN CARBON, Ill. (KMOX) – In a few hours, police are expected to return to a property in Glen Carbon where a woman who was found frozen to death on her driveway over the weekend.
There is no word yet on exactly what police are looking for.
Police Chief John Lakin is only saying it has to do with possible criminal activity at the property on Illinois Route 159 near Interstate 270.
Lakin says police received information about the alleged activity after 83-year-old Mary Kampworth was found Saturday.
Investigators say Kampworth may have been on the driveway for up to four days. An autopsy this week failed to pinpoint why she died, but the coroner said there were no signs of trauma.
Lakin says Kampworth is not suspected of being involved in anything illegal. He hopes to release more information later today.
