ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) - Crews are cleaning up after a train derailment in South St. Louis.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday as crews were moving the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train in the rail yard at I-44 and River Des Peres.

As the train was headed westbound out of the yard, 6 cars derailed. The cars were flatbeds with no containers on them at the time of the incident.

The train cars were scattered across the bridge that crosses River Des Peres and Wellington Ave.

The St. Louis streets department warns the derailment has Wabash, Ellendale and McCausland closed between Arsenal and Lansdowne. Drivers should expect delays during the evening rush.

No injuries were reported and no word yet on what caused the derailment.
