Missouri Supreme Court Asked to ‘Clarify’ Red Light Camera Laws

Missouri Municipal League says appeals court rulings have been inconsistent

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOX) – Clarification on red light camera rules, is being sought by the Missouri Municipal League.

The League represents more than 600 municipalities across the state.

More than 30 of them, including St. Louis, have Red Light Camera ordinances, but not all are enforced the same way.

To add confusion, the league says appeals court rulings have been inconsistent. So the league is asking the Missouri Supreme Court to step in and provide clarification of conflicting decisions at the court of appeals.

The Missouri Municipal League claims these inconsistencies are threatening the ability of cities to pass a wide range of local public safety ordinances beyond red light cameras.
