ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – The closure of a downtown St. Louis hotel is a blessing for a local charity.

The founder of Oasis International Ministries, Mark Akers, says he’s been offered furniture from the Millennium Hotel to give to refugees from war-torn countries, “This is an answer to prayer. We’ve had many families waiting on furniture, just because we didn’t have enough to give them right now.”

Akers says last year Oasis helped 363 families from 26 nations get settled in the St. Louis area, “We give them a house full of furniture, clothes, English classes, and more.”

As for the Millennium furniture, he’s asking for volunteers and large trucks to help move the donated items from the hotel to a warehouse.

Mark Akers can be reached at mark.akers@oasisinternational.info .
