ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Your boss may think otherwise, but the State of Missouri is urging everyone to stay off the roads “for the duration” of today’s weather event.

The Missouri Department of Transportation says “heavy snowfall and strong winds” across much of the state will make traveling hazardous, especially in northern Missouri where 6-to-10 inches of snow is expected.

They point out that about a year ago at this time there was a similar heavy snowstorm and many employers sent their workers home early, adding to the crush of traffic that clogged highways and interchanges.

In St. Louis, MoDOT maintenance engineer Becky Allmeroth says crews began pre-treating area roads at midnight.
