ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson says he’s glad the City is taking its red light camera fight to the State Supreme Court.

“From what I know there have been a variety of legal opinions some in favor of programs and some against programs and I think ultimately it will be up to the Missouri State Supreme Court to decide what’s right and what’s not,” says Dotson.

A decision came down from a circuit court judge Wednesday morning that bars the city from enforcing its cameras.

Now the city says it’ll appeal to the Supreme Court.

Dotson says for him, it all comes back to running lights. He says it’s illegal to run them no matter who catches you whether it’s a live person or a camera.
