BRENTWOOD, Mo. (KMOX) – It was USA versus Canada in Olympic semifinals hockey Friday – a television “must see” during lunchtime at restaurants and bars across the St. Louis region.

KMOX checked out OB Clark’s in Brentwood, and found lots of Blues fans cheering for the three St. Louis NHL players on the U.S. side and the two skating for Team Canada.

Alex Pietrangelo especially caught one fan’s attention, “He’s out there every shift with JayBo (Jay Bouwmeester). Those guys are playing 30 minutes per game. We haven’t scored, so it appears they are dominating the Americans.”

Eric, born in Canada but now an American citizen, may have been about the only one in the establishment wearing a Team Canada sweater, but said he was simply there rooting for his favorite Blues players, “There’s five of them playing in this game, so how can you not be excited about it? It’s a little bit hard because I’m a big Blues fan. Our guys are playing great.”

Canada’s second period goal was the difference in a 1-0 game. Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester assisted on the goal.

The U.S. plays Finland for the bronze medal on Saturday.

Canada and Sweden skate for the gold on Sunday.
