St. Louis Co. Republicans Want Cunningham for County Executive

Josh Schwartzkopf

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – St. Louis County Republicans set their sights on a possible candidate they think will win in the County Executive race and usurp incumbent Democrat Charlie Dooley. The horse they’re betting on? Former State Senator and Monarch Fire Board Director Jane Cunningham.

Over the weekend, the St. Louis County Republican Central Committee picked Cunningham because of her “proven ability to win elections”. It also doesn’t hurt that she earned her laurels by focusing on identifying and reforming government waste and creating accountability measures to save taxpayers money as well as improving services.

The group feels that Cunningham would be able to raise the necessary funds and garner support from both the business community and grassroots Republicans throughout the county to retake the seat for the Republican party – which has been held by Democrats for decades.

Now it’s up to Cunningham to decide if she wants the seat or not. County Republicans will continue looking for other candidates in the meantime.
