SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Brazen criminals in the Springfield, Mo. area are now behind bars after over half a dozen burglaries that began last August.
Springfield police say three suspects cut window screens to get into the homes of elderly residents who lived alone. During one break-in, police say a suspect pointed a gun at the head of an 80-yea- old man, threatened to kill him and also threatened to kill an 87-year-old woman.
Two men, 20 and 32 years of age, forced their way into the homes while a third suspect served as the lookout. A 91-year-old woman’s home and the 87-year-old’s home were broken into twice. Guns, jewelry, prescription medication and over $40 thousand in cash was taken.
One victim recognized the suspect’s voice while DNA from a mask at the scene and boot prints in the snow helped detectives crack the case.
One of the suspects faces 15 charges including burglary, robbery and armed criminal action.
