School Band Saved, But Teachers Cut from Granite City

GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOX) – The Granite City Elementary and Junior High Band programs survived the budget axe and that was music to the ears of hundreds of student musicians.

But not every one was spared, 2 of the 5 Elementary Music teaching positions were cut.  3 of 6 Elementary Physical Education teachers and 2 more teaching positions in Drafting and Teaching were eliminated.

Overall, the student community was thankful, but their hearts were a little heavy that some teachers would not be with them to keep the music playing.
