ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. (KMOX) – Police in St. Charles County are on the lookout for one or possibly two individuals involved in two abduction attempts.
On Tuesday evening in O’Fallon, the first attempt was made. Police officer Diane Damke says two young girls were offered candy by a man in a car on Cinnamon Teal Drive.
Just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a man tried to get an 8-year-old Lake St. Louis old boy into his bright red pick-up truck with the offer of candy. The child refused, went into his house and his parents called police.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late to early 20s, slender, wearing a red baseball cap and a blue T-shirt. Another man was in the truck, an African American, described as balding and wearing a green shirt. The red pick-up truck had a tonneau cover over the bed.
Here’s the connection between the two attempts:
“The person in the car was described as being late teens or early 20s and wearing a red baseball cap,” Damke says.
The vehicle described in the two incidents is different, though. The young girls described in Tuesday’s incident, one of them only six years old, said the car was a gray 4-door sedan. O’Fallon police say the man did not attempt to get out of the car and grab the two kids. Damke says some of the homes in neighborhoods have security cameras, and they’re checking those to see if anything is on them.
Law enforcement agencies are asking for your help. If you recognized the previous descriptions of suspects or vehicles, call police.
