ST. ANN, Mo. (KMOX/AP) - The American Red Cross brought lunch and provided hotel rooms for about 100 residents of a St. Louis County apartment building, after a pre-dawn fire on Friday.

Only minor injuries were reported by residents of the Santa Ana Apartments.

A sprinkler system put out the fire, but water pumps kicked in and the first 10 floors of the building flooded, causing significant water damage.

KMOX was told a resident on the 10th floor reported her blanket caught fire, and that kicked-on the sprinkler system.

The Red Cross says the power could remain off for several days, and they’ll continue to assist the displaced elderly and disabled until it is safe for them to return to their apartments.
