Cards Send Three to Disabled List

CINCINNATI, Ohio (KMOX) – The St. Louis Cardinals placed one infielder and two pitchers on the disabled list, Sunday, in preparation for the start of the 2014 season on Monday.

Free agent pick-up Mark Ellis (left knee patella tendinitis) and pitchers Jaime Garcia (left shoulder) and Jason Motte (right elbow) have all landed on the 15-day disabled list. Ellis’ move is retroactive to March 27 and the moves for both Garcia and Motte are retroactive to March 21.

In addition, the team announced the purchase of non-roster pitcher Pat Neshek’s contract.

The Cardinals 25-man Opening Day roster is as follows:

PITCHERS (12): Keith Butler-RHP, Randy Choate-LHP, Joe Kelly-RHP, Lance Lynn-RHP, Seth Maness-RHP, Carlos Martinez-RHP, Shelby Miller-RHP, Pat Neshek-RHP, Trevor Rosenthal-RHP, Kevin Siegrist-LHP, Michael Wacha-RHP, Adam Wainwright-RHP;

CATCHERS (2): Tony Cruz, Yadier Molina;
