Quinn Makes Minimum Wage Pitch at Women’s Event
CHICAGO (AP) – Gov. Pat Quinn has made his pitch to raise the Illinois minimum wage at a women’s luncheon attended by many top Democrats and candidates.
Quinn is seeking re-election and told attendees Monday that he favors fair pay. The annual Ultimate Women’s Power Lunch is hosted by U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who called Quinn one of the “most honest” people she knows.
Quinn’s reputation is under scrutiny as his administration faces a federal inquiry for a 2010 anti-violence program and his Department of Transportation is accused of improper hiring.
Republican challenger Bruce Rauner has seized both issues in attempts to paint Quinn as corrupt and dishonest.
Quinn didn’t mention the issues during his speech.
Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis also attended.
