BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOX) - No cause of death has been determined for an inmate who died at the St. Clair County Jail Tuesday night.

Coroner Rick Stone tells the Belleville News Democrat, an autopsy was performed Wednesday on Juan Sifuentes, 31, and additional testing will be conducted.

O’Fallon Illinois Police arrested Sifuentes on May 6th on a retail theft charge.

He began experiencing shortness of breath at the time of arrest and was taken to the hospital.

He later was returned to the jail and was found unresponsive Tuesday night and taken back to the hospital where he died.
