ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – More than half of all Americans drink at least one cup of coffee a day.
This weekend, the “who’s who” of coffee experts will be in St. Louis for Coffee Fest.
Erika Lowery explains this is where businesses come to find out what’s new and what’s trending.
“I think a great topic, especially for here in St. Louis, is cold brew,” she says. “Cold brew is really big; also, single cup brewing. You’re seeing cafes and coffee shops that used to just serve hot coffee over ice, which isn’t the best beverage you can have, so we see all kinds of different brew methods.”
This is the first time Coffee Fest has been in St. Louis. Around 3,000 people are expected to attend.
Lowery says St. Louis has a good coffee culture.
“You’ve got cafes and they each have their own personality,” she says. “They’ve created their own culture, they’ve really embraced it, they’re not just serving a cup of coffee and they don’t care about it. They’re excited you’re going in, they have a variety, they have a light and dark roast, they’re interacting with their customers. You can just feel that in the city. They’re not cookie cutter chains.”
