Normandy School District Takes Legal Action

St. Louis (KMOX) The Normandy School is seeking a temporary restraining order against the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The motion-filed yesterday-attempts to prevent the state from withholding more than 2 million dollars the district hasn’t paid to area school districts that took in its transferring students. The DESE, s also won’t let the district pay its legal fees in a court fight over student transfers.

Missouri’s transfer law requires an unaccredited school district to pay the tuition costs for students who transfer to a different district. Normandy officials say that is bankrupting the district and isn’t fair to the students who remain.
