ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – You might notice some fur at the office today.
It’s Take Your Dog to Work Day, and a large number of St. Louis businesses are taking part.
Kathy Warnick, president of the Humane Society of Missouri has a few tips if you’re taking your 4-legged friend to work.
The first is to make sure you “pup proof” the office. You need to make sure that wires, cords and poisonous plants are up and out of the way.
“We also think it’s a great idea when the pup arrives to take it on a leash around the office to introduce it to people and make sure it’s familiar with its surroundings,” she says.
Warnick also recommends making it an errand-free day. Don’t leave your pet in the car while you run errands after work.
“The rule of thumb is that any time it’s over 70 degrees, you should not leave an animal in a car—even with the windows cracked open,” Warnick says.
If a dog isn’t your thing, consider a cat.
The Humane Society has a deal right now where you can adopt a cat 6 months old or older for just $5.
