ST. LOUIS (KMOX) – Starting today, it’s going to cost a bit more to ride a MetroLink train.
Metro spokesperson Patti Beck says the fare increase marks the latest phase of their long-range plan, and will boost passenger income by more than $2 million a year.
“The cost of operating the Metro transit system, as you can imagine, continues to increase for costs such as fuel, vehicle parts, medical benefit expenses,” she says.
The plan chosen during public hearings will see one-ride MetroLink fares go up from $2.25 to $2.50, weekly passes to $27, and monthly passes to $78 dollars.
The $2 dollar base fare for Metro buses will not be impacted, nor will the $4 Call-A-Ride fare.
