Pine Lawn Officer Kills Suspect After Chase/Struggle

Pine Lawn, MO (KMOX)–A man is dead after struggling with a Pine Lawn Police officer early Saturday morning. St. Louis County Police have taken over the investigation. According to County Police Sgt. Colby Dolly, the incident started with a traffic stop along Interstate 70 near Jennings Station Road in Pine Lawn. The driver fled from the scene, leading the Pine Lawn officer on a chase westbound on 70, until the suspect crashed his car at the ramp to Interstate 170. The suspect fled on foot with the officer in close pursuit. After catching the suspect, the two struggled and the officer fired one shot at the suspect, killing him. The officer was not hurt.The ramp to 170 remained closed for the most of the night while the incident was investigated. The suspect has not yet been identified. St. Louis County Police expect to have more information throughout the day.
