FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. (KMOX) – Federal proseuctors in the Metro-East say a Michigan man used information supplied by his unknowing girlfriend to rob the Highland, Ill. bank where she worked.
The motive? To get cash to buy her an engagement ring.
The date of the robbery? This past Valentine’s Day.
Twenty-two-year-old Ramsey Fakhouri of Troy, Michigan was sentenced this week to 78 months in prison, plus three years of supervised release.
Prosecutors say Fakhouri and a co-defendant held up an employee of the Bradford National Bank who was re-stocking an ATM machine.
Fakhouri’s girlfriend saw it all go down, but didn’t realize her boyfriend was involved until later, when she received an e-mail with surveillance photos.
No word on the case against Fakhouri’s co-defendant.
